Youth Club

The Youth Club was re-opened in co-operation with the local young people and the local Councillor, Theresa Debono in January 2007. Since then about 70 young people have joined it and participate in different projects run within the club. Our programme is directed at all young people aged 12-18 regardless of their race, gender, faith or sexual orientation, living in the Highbury, Finsbury Park and Stoke Newington areas.
We also want to reach young people who are not in either education or employment, facing particular disadvantage and/or with very low levels of basic skills. By working in partnership with The Safer Neighbourhood Police and local secondary schools, we are also targeting those young people who are at risk of social exclusion, anti social behaviour or have already committed crime(s) at some stage. From past experience and continuous monitoring and outreach work, we are fully aware that this sector of the community remains under represented.
We want to offer all of them an opportunity to meet in a safe place, enjoy life, integrate and share their experiences and learn new skills in an informal environment - learning by having fun.
Our plan is to develop more educational projects, which give young people more opportunities for informal career skills training
The activities include non - contact boxing, street dancing, building computers from scratch, cooking, website designing, DJ sessions, repairing motorbikes, outings, residential and a generic session once a week.
